Craftsman currently has four types of drills and the different types are easily determined by the color.

 

Red - Professional quality.  If you use a drill every day, all day long this is the drill for you.  If you are a homeowner and you want a drill that will last years this is also the drill for you.  Sears current line of professional drills all use lithium-ion batteries for the maximum life and maximum durability.  I would easily say that the professional line is as good and in some cases better than Dewalt, Makita, Bosch, and Panasonic

 

Black - Homeowner quality.  If you use a drill every weekend or you are planning on remodeling your house this quality is a good choice.  I know many contractors that use the black 19.2 cordless drills because they are about half the price of the professional line and have just about as much power.  For the price the cordless drills have lots of power and good durability.  The craftsman C3 19.2 cordless drills and combo kits are now available with lithium batteries.  The craftsman 19.2 line compares in my opinion to the Ridgid brand.

 

Because the new 19.2 lithium batteries have a computer chip built in to upgrade YOU MUST purchase a new (red/black) charger.  The charger will also charge your old nicad batteries.

 

Gray - If you think you need a cordless drill but you are not sure why or what you would actually use it for gray may be right for you.  The gray craftsman cordless drill works just fine for little jobs around the house like installing curtain rods or hanging a new door.  The gray line in my opinion compares to Black & Decker and Skill brands.

 

Blue - Finally and for sure least is the Companion cordless drills.  The only thing I can say for these is if you have a son-in-law you hate ..... these make a great Christmas present!
